Description :- Siddhi Vinayak, a form of Lord Ganesha, rendered in the Pattachitra style—a classical art form from Odisha, India. The figure in the centre is Lord Ganesha, known as the remover of obstacles and the lord of beginnings. He is seated in Lalitasana (a relaxed pose with one leg folded and the other resting), radiating serenity and divine grace. His skin is painted white, symbolizing purity and wisdom.
Four arms, each holding a symbolic object:
One hand holds a Abhay Mudra – symbolizing Blessing.
Another holds a Book – Representing Knowledge.
The third hand holds a pasha (noose) – representing control over worldly desires.
The fourth holds a goad (ankusha) – used to remove obstacles.
A small mouse (his vahana or vehicle) is shown reverently near his feet, gazing up at the deity. Lord Ganesha is adorned with traditional jewellery, garlands, and a decorated crown. His dhoti is vibrant, with yellow and green patterns, and a richly decorated angavastram drapes over his shoulders. The balance between playfulness (the sweets, the mouse) and authority (the goad and noose) captures the duality of divine wisdom and earthly compassion.
The halo behind his head signifies divinity and spiritual energy.
The background is a rich red with floral and mandala-like designs.
The entire painting is highly detailed, and stylized — all marks of the Pattachitra tradition.
“Siddhi Vinayak” literally means Ganesha, the Granter of Success (Siddhi).
This form of Ganesha is particularly worshipped for:
Success in endeavours
Fulfilment of desires
Spiritual upliftment
The balance between playfulness (the sweets, the mouse) and authority (the goad and noose) captures the duality of divine wisdom and earthly compassion.
This painting is not just an artistic representation but a devotional piece, evoking the benevolence and power of Siddhi Vinayak. where each color and motif carries symbolic meaning.
