Description :- The painting is a beautiful Pattachitra-style depiction of Ardhanarishwara, the androgynous form of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, symbolizing the union of masculine and feminine energies—the divine balance of the universe.
The figure is split vertically:
Left side (Shiva): Pale white toned skin, clad in tiger skin, holding the trishula (trident) and a kamandalu (water pot), adorned with rudraksha beads. His jata (matted hair) flows upward with the crescent moon and Ganga depicted.
Right side (Parvati): Golden-hued skin, draped in a red and green sari, adorned with feminine ornaments. She holds a sword and a lotus, symbolizing strength and purity.
The face beautifully merges Shiva’s tranquillity with Parvati’s grace — one eye calm and inward, the other nurturing and radiant.
At their feet:
A Nandi bull, the vahana (vehicle) of Shiva, sits peacefully on the left.
A lion, Parvati’s mount, reclines regally on the right.
Together, they emphasize the harmonized energies of power and peace.
The dark blue background with dotted stars gives a cosmic feel — this is not just a deity, but the embodiment of the cosmic duality and unity.
